Naming a color family

Hue refers to a color family, such as red, yellow, or blue. Two blue patches can differ in lightness or intensity while belonging to the same broad hue family. Color relationships also depend on surrounding colors and lighting. A hue name alone does not tell you everything about a color’s appearance or meaning.
