Shading with a light source

Shading can describe how light falls across a form. A cast shadow appears on another surface where an object blocks light; a form shadow lies on the object itself. Their shapes depend on the object, the light, and the receiving surface. Consistent light direction helps a drawing suggest a coherent space.
