Flat shapes and solid forms

In this course, shape means a two-dimensional area and form means a three-dimensional volume, whether actual or represented. A circle is a shape; a sphere is a form. Shading can make a circle look like a sphere on flat paper. The image suggests depth, but the paper itself has not become a solid ball.
