What causes the seasons

Earth’s axis is tilted relative to its orbital plane. As Earth orbits the Sun, each hemisphere receives different daylight lengths and sunlight angles. These changes cause the main seasonal pattern. The hemispheres have opposite seasons, which a simple explanation based only on distance from the Sun cannot explain.
