Finding the limiting reactant

A limiting reactant is used up first and sets the maximum product amount. Compare available amounts using the balanced reaction ratio; the reactant with the smaller mass is not necessarily limiting. Water formation requires two moles of hydrogen gas per mole of oxygen gas. With three moles of hydrogen and two moles of oxygen, hydrogen runs out first. Only 1.5 moles of oxygen are needed to consume all the hydrogen.

Practice

For water formation, 3 moles of hydrogen gas and 2 moles of oxygen gas are available. Which reactant limits the reaction?
