Exchange force and movement

A mechanism changes how force or movement is transmitted. A lever can reduce the effort force needed when the effort acts farther from the pivot than the load does. The effort point then travels farther. In an ideal mechanism, the reduction in force is balanced by greater movement; the mechanism does not create energy. Real mechanisms also have losses.
