Bending and breaking are different

Stiffness describes resistance to deformation; strength concerns resisting failure under a specified loading condition. A flexible part can bend noticeably without breaking. A stiff part can still fail if its load exceeds its capacity. Compare the property relevant to the need. A shelf that bends too much may be unsuitable even if it has not broken.

Practice

A shelf remains intact but bends enough to spill its contents. What requirement is most directly unmet?
