Compare an equivalent service

Life-cycle thinking considers stages from material extraction and production through use and end of life. To compare reusable and single-use items, define an equivalent service and account for realistic reuse and cleaning. A reusable item’s result depends on how often and how it is used. A material label alone cannot determine which option has lower overall impacts.
