Match the claim to the timescale

Weather describes atmospheric conditions over short periods. Climate concerns patterns and variation over much longer periods. A cool afternoon does not by itself establish a cooling climate, just as a hot afternoon alone does not establish a long-term trend. Compare appropriate records across time and locations, considering measurement methods and natural variability.
