Recognize missing geological time

An unconformity is a surface representing a gap in the geological record through erosion, nondeposition, or both. Tilted layers beneath younger, more nearly horizontal layers can show deformation and erosion before later deposition. A gap is evidence about missing record, but its duration requires additional age constraints.
