Separate breakdown from transport

Weathering breaks down or chemically changes material at its location. Erosion removes and transports material through processes involving water, wind, ice, or gravity. Water entering a crack and freezing can contribute to physical weathering. A stream carrying the loosened fragments illustrates transport. These processes often occur together but describe different changes.
