Imperial power and resistance

Imperial expansion involved political domination, economic interests, strategic competition, and claims of cultural superiority. Colonized communities responded through resistance, negotiation, adaptation, and other strategies. Infrastructure built under colonial rule must be assessed alongside coercion, extraction, and whose needs it served.
