More than one supported reading

Ambiguity allows more than one plausible understanding of a detail or passage. It is different from assuming that any interpretation is equally well supported. A final smile might suggest relief or concealment if earlier scenes support both. Compare the evidence for each reading and be clear about what the text leaves unresolved.
