A story inside another story

A frame narrative places one account within another narrative situation, such as a traveler telling a tale to listeners. The frame can influence why the tale is told and how it is received. The outer narrator and the embedded storyteller may have different knowledge or aims. Neither voice should automatically be treated as the author.
