The speed of a narrative

Pacing concerns how quickly a narrative moves through events and how much attention it gives them. A brief summary can cover years, while a detailed scene can slow a single minute. Sentence length may contribute, but pacing is not determined by sentence length alone. Look at detail, scene, summary, and pauses together.
