Events and their connections

Plot concerns how events are arranged and connected in a narrative. A summary identifies important events; analysis asks how their sequence, causes, and consequences shape the story. Not every event has equal weight. If missing a train leads a traveler to meet an old friend, the missed train changes what can happen next.
