Ratios and proportion
Scale quantities while keeping their relationship the same.
Scale both parts
A ratio compares quantities. Multiply both parts by the same number to keep the same relationship.
Worked example
2 : 3 = 4 : 6
Find one part
For a proportional recipe, divide to find the amount for one serving, then multiply by the number of servings needed.
Worked example
300 g for 4 servings → 75 g for 1 → 450 g for 6
