A point of arrival

A cadence is a musical arrival or ending articulated through features such as harmony, melody, and rhythm. In Western tonal music, different cadences can suggest stronger closure or an unfinished continuation. A final loud sound alone does not identify a cadence type. Examine the harmonic motion together with its position within the phrase.
