Making terms clear

A discussion can go wrong when people use a key term differently. A safe activity might mean one with no risk, or one with risk reduced to an agreed level. Clarifying the intended standard can reveal whether people actually disagree. A useful definition should fit the question and remain consistent throughout the argument.
