Criticize the reasoning

An informal fallacy is a defect in reasoning whose assessment depends on meaning and context. Attacking an irrelevant personal trait does not answer an argument about a policy. Information about a source’s expertise or reliability can sometimes matter, but it should be relevant to the claim being assessed.
