Revising principles and judgments

Reflective equilibrium is a method of adjusting general principles and considered judgments in light of each other. A conflict may lead us to revise a principle, a judgment, or a background assumption. The aim is a defensible fit, not simply preserving every initial reaction. Whether coherence is enough for justification is itself debated.
