Make information meaningful

Encoding is the processing through which information enters memory. Relating a new word to its meaning and using it in a sentence can provide useful connections. Simply seeing a word many times does not guarantee later recall. The task and the way information is processed matter, so distinguish exposure from what was actually learned.
