Turn a concept into a measurable task

An operational definition specifies how a concept is measured or manipulated in a study. A researcher might measure attention by missed targets in a particular task. That score represents performance on the chosen task, not every aspect of attention. Explain the procedure and the limits of the link between the score and the broader concept.
