Different reasons for the same action

Motivation concerns processes that direct and sustain activity. Someone may study from curiosity, to meet a requirement, or for several reasons together. The same outward action can have different motives. Ask about goals and context rather than assuming that one behavior reveals a single permanent personal quality.
