Practice bringing an answer to mind

Retrieval practice asks a learner to produce learned information, then check it. Trying to explain an idea with the notes closed differs from rereading the explanation. Experiments have found benefits for later retention in the tasks studied. Corrective feedback helps address errors. Benefits depend on the material and task; no single routine guarantees learning.
