Trace a process over time

Social change involves changes in relationships, institutions, or social practices over time. Introducing a new technology does not by itself explain every later change. Rules, resources, interpretation, and existing practices can shape its use. Compare evidence over time and examine mechanisms before claiming that one event caused an entire transformation.
