Interpret a confidence interval
A confidence interval estimates a population quantity using a method with a stated long-run coverage rate. Under the method’s assumptions, 95% of intervals from repeated samples would contain the fixed true quantity. A particular interval is not a claim that 95% of individual observations lie inside it. Selection bias can remain outside this uncertainty calculation.
