Ask how large the difference is

An effect estimate describes the size and direction of a difference or association. A very small difference can have a small p-value in a large study. Whether the difference matters depends on its units, consequences, uncertainty, and context. Report the estimated change rather than using a statistical threshold as a substitute for magnitude.
