Describe the distance between extremes

The range subtracts the minimum from the maximum. For waiting times of 2, 4, 6, and 20 minutes, it is 18 minutes. It is a quick measure of spread, but uses only the extremes. Two groups with the same range can have very different arrangements between their smallest and largest values.
