Select a sample fairly

A convenient sample is easy to reach but may miss parts of the population. Asking only morning library visitors about opening hours may overlook evening users. Random selection from a suitable member list gives each listed member a known chance of selection. Nonresponse and an incomplete list can still limit conclusions.
